This term, P3B have been learning all about farming and fishing! We have learned about how farms operate, about the lifecycle of an Atlantic Salmon, conservation projects and lots more! We had the very exciting opportunity to have salmon eggs in our classroom, shared with P3A. Daniele from Perthshire Wildlife came to visit us to tell us how to look after the eggs and Alevin whilst they were with us. We have been responsible by checking the temperature of the tank every hour to make sure it is in the right range. We have visited the Almondbank Fishery, exploring the facilities to find out how they look after salmon and lots of other fish. We will be releasing the Alevin at Quarrymill at the end of the term, alongside P3A.
As part of our learning in Literacy, we have been taking part in the National Improving Writing Programme (or NWIP as we like to call it) to develop our writing skills and confidence, alongside Talk for Writing. We have really enjoyed doing this in class and have learned how to use punctuation, conjunctions and vocabulary in our writing. In Numeracy, we have done lots of times table practice! We learned different strategies to help us, played lots of games and used Education City to support us as well.
We have had a few visitors this term. We had the Dundee Science Centre come in to show us exciting things like lasers, a livestream of the International Space Station and they even brought a piece of the Moon for us to hold! John the Potato Man visited us to tell us all about potatoes. He knew so much, and he brought lots of props like a model of a farm and purple potatoes! Finally, we got to enjoy a Judo taster session. We got to try different moves with partners and some of us took part in the Black Belt Challenge against the people running the session.
We all look forward to Term 4!
