In P3a we have enjoyed a very busy term! We worked really hard at learning our words for our song ‘Rock Around the Clock’, preparing artwork and learning our lines for our 1950s part of the RDM Extravaganza. Our highlight of this experience was being brave to perform in front of all the families. We are really excited for the show next year!
Another highlight of our term has been learning all about Atlantic Salmon. We have been really lucky to be part of the conservation project run by Perthshire Wildlife and Tay Rivers Trust to have some salmon eggs to monitor and take care of across P3. We also visited the Almondbank Salmon Hatchery where we were shown around by Mike, Craig and Marek. They helped us to see salmon eggs and alevins in cold trays, the adult salmon being fed (by very stinky food!) and to view some fry, parr and small trout. It was fantastic!
In the classroom we have been learning about money and measure, as well as practising multiplication and division facts. We have also been using our mental maths time to become more confident with adding and subtracting larger numbers. We were happy to have a visit from Mr Marshall (Royal Highland Educational Trust) who taught us lots of interesting facts about potatoes. We have then used our ‘Farming and Fishing’ topic to write lots about potatoes, Jack and the Beanstalk, French vegetables and tractors.
