We have had a fun-filled and busy term 3 in Primary 1b! Our topic this term is “Food and Farming” and thanks to help from the Royal Highland Education Trust have had many great visitors and resources arrive in our classroom. John “the potato man” Marshall told us all the wonderful uses of potatoes, Daisy the milking cow popped by to help us learn about dairy produce and we are taking part (which is what counts) in RHET’s potato growing competition (we hope we win!)
Our reading and writing skills have progressed brilliantly this term and we had a fantastic World Book Day where we read with buddies, shared our favourite books and designed and painted our own Elmer the Elephant themed door. We’ve also covered many numeracy topics this term including number facts, subtraction, shape, pattern and measure. Primary 1b also welcomed the school’s Digi Leaders for a brilliant masterclass in how to use Sphero robots.
In Outdoor Learning we adore our weekly trips to the woods where we climb trees, build dens and create imaginative hotels, restaurants, dance studios, doctor’s surgeries, climbing centres and every type of shop you could think of all in our school forest. Primary 1b also learned about how to build fires safely and toasted and ate our own marshmallows thanks to Mrs. Wilson who kindly came to show us.
